ABOUT US

Our mission is to provide behavioral solutions for at-risk children and their families throughout the state of Mississippi.

Will's Way was founded by Dr. Kimberly Bellipanni Hargrove and Dr. Dannell Speights Roberts in hopes of providing quality, behaviorally based interventions and

therapy for families in South Mississippi. This includes behavioral intervention for tantrums, toileting problems, feeding problems, learning difficulties, dyslexia, aggression, property destruction, coping problems, social skill problems, sleeping inconsistencies, pain management and more. Our licensed staff also works with diagnoses for Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome,

anxiety disorders, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and more.

Will’s Way also offers training programs for educators and schools. For a full list of these, see our School Corner.

Dr. Hargrove and Dr. Roberts completed their doctoral training at top research facilities in the areas of Pediatrics and Behavioral Psychology (Johns Hopkins

Medical School and The May Institute).

Currently, we operate two fully staffed locations in Hattiesburg and Gulfport. We also have a small satellite clinic in Summit

In addition to these sites, we have several therapists and trained staff who travel around the state (in and around Jackson, Mississippi, east and west of Hattiesburg, and all of the Mississippi Gulf Coast) to offer in-home or in-school services.

Our Inspiration

The Story of "Will" –   Our Name Inspiration

Will's Way was inspired by our friend, Will. When he was 18 months old, Will had only 5 words in his vocabulary. He displayed many tell-tale signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder such as spinning and arm flapping. He was not able to self-regulate his moods and behavior. His frustration with his inability to communicate effectively led to tantruming and oppositional behavior. At the age of 3, Will was diagnosed with autism.

Will, however, is much more than a child with autism. Will is an artist. His talent for drawing allows not only for artistic expression but also for emotional expression. He expresses his frustrations, joys, fears and current pop culture obsessions through his art. He loves to make movies on the computer and set them to music to the delight of the people around him. Will is a happy boy. Now fully verbal, he loves to laugh and make others laugh too.

Through intervention techniques, such as those used by the Will's Way treatment team, Will has learned ways to redirect his frustrations appropriately. He has learned self-calming techniques. He participates in social skills programs that are teaching him how to interact with peers appropriately.

Will's intervention programs have evolved along with him. While speech and occupational therapies helped him to catch up verbally and physically early on, social skills programs and behavioral intervention programs are now guiding him through his elementary school years.

Inspired by Will's journey, our mission is to help all children unlock their unique gifts and reach their full potential.
