Evaluations
We provide a comprehensive approach to psychological evaluations including input from families, schools, physicians, and other professionals when appropriate. Psychological evaluations for schools typically involve multiple steps to collect information on developmental history, school functioning, behavioral functioning, and relevant medical issues. Testing may include the following depending on the referral question: parent and child interviews, intellectual and academic assessments, psychological and emotional evaluations, behavioral rating scales, direct observations, teacher interview, and school/medical record reviews.
Consultation
Therapists at Will’s Way conduct individual, class-wide, and school wide consultation for teachers and other school personnel in both public and private settings. Consultation services aim to increase students’ appropriate behaviors while decreasing maladaptive behaviors in settings outside of home. Consultation also includes assistance with classroom set up or redesigns to best suite children with special needs.
Professional Development
Will’s Way staff are available to provide individual, small group, and large group staff development and staff training opportunities. It is our goal to collaborate with local schools and community agencies to build knowledge, expertise and confidence in applying behavioral techniques in group settings. We work with organizations to help identify goals and design training programs specified to their needs.
FBAs and BIPs
Will’s Way school consultants are available to help school staff with conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) as well as the corresponding Behavior Intervention Plans to help increase skill development and reduce problem behaviors in school and community settings.
